Over the weekend of Friday 26th to Monday 30th, the Breeze International Youth Festival (BIYF) opens up the city of Leeds with a spectacular programme of live music, performances and exhibitions as part of the BIYF Celebration Weekend. There will be live music on Briggate from 10.15am – 5.45pm on Saturday, live performances at The Carriageworks on Friday and Saturday night from 7.30pm (tickets required) as well as other live performances, events and screenings at The Light, Victoria Gardens, Leeds City Museum, The Victoria Quarter, The City Library, The Art Gallery Tiled Hall and on the BBC Big Screen in Millennium Square. A number of local schools and youth groups will be performing their own work.

Young people aged 11 – 19 with a Breezecard can also sign up for free masterclasses with expert practitioners in a range of exciting activities including dance with Phoenix Dance Theatre, 3D art and art appreciation at Leeds Art Gallery, football shirt design at Leeds City Museum, creative writing and drama with West Yorkshire Playhouse, an introduction to broadcasting with Graham Liver from BBC Radio Leeds, Manga and Anime with special guest Yishan Li, a tour of BBC Yorkshire including the on-air studios of Radio Leeds and the Look North TV studio and much, much more.

As always, BIYF has invited international students to visit Leeds between Sunday 28 June and Saturday 4 July. Young people from Romania, Czech Republic, South Africa, Poland, USA, China, Sweden and Durban will be paired up with young people from Woodkirk High Specialist Science School, Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School, St Mary's Catholic Comprehensive School, South Leeds High School, Corpus Christi Catholic College, Pudsey Grangefield School, Morley High School and Otley Prince Henry's Grammar School for a week of activities and performances together.

BIYF also supports Arts Award, a national qualification which supports young people to develop as artists and arts leaders.
