Save Hyde Park
Written by admin

Dear Councilpersons,

A friend of mine has informed me that there is to be a public meeting at West Park School either this Friday 18th Sept or next Friday at 7pm where plans to dig trenches and fill them with concrete in order to have  BBQ paving stones all over Hyde Park are to be discussed. Please could you pass this on to the relevant person so I can find out the exact date in order to attend.

Could you also please pass on my comments that as a resident of LS6 (very near to the park) I am shocked that we have received no flyer through the door highlighting this plan and or meetings about it, or a survey of our opinions.

The only literature I have seen is some posters calling for attendance to a focus group about BBQ's on Hyde Park. These cunningly were made to look as if students had put them up on the trees in Hyde Park and were not infact of much relevance to what I now understand is a proposal nearing being stamped through. I recently read an article in the Hyde Park Heat about it and this is all I have seen. What this proposal will do to the community aspect of the park is appalling. Park games will be a thing of the past, it will be dangerous for children to run around. As for BBQ'n on a slab of concrete dogs have wee'd all over I think most people would rather stick to the handy metal stands most BBQ's come packed with?!!

This is a ridiculous idea and I'd be very interested to receive a response as to what if any benefits there are to it.

Regards
