PRS FOUNDATION OFFERS FUNDS FOR LIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC
DO YOU HAVE A NEW IDEA FOR AN EXCITING LIVE PERFORMANCE OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC?

The PRS Foundation is offering grants of up to £5000, to musicians or producers who want to create a one-off live performance of original electronic music, through its LIVE CONNECTIONS funding scheme.

The performance must take place sometime in 2010 and the deadline for applications is FRIDAY 9 OCTOBER 2009.

CHARLOTTE RAY, Co-Director of the PRS Foundation, said, “We created this scheme to get great new electronic music from laptops in people’s bedrooms and out to audiences in a live setting. We want to hear about how you demonstrate innovation in the live presentation ofyour music, maybe using unusual venues, a strong visual presentation or new methods of performing live. Electronic music is thrilling when presented imaginatively. ”

This annual funding opportunity is offered to collaborative partnerships of musicians and promoters where there is a track record of successfully carrying out an event. "Birds Eye View were delighted to receive £3,000 from the PRS Foundation last year, towards our _SOUND & SILENTS _season of live musical commissions to silent film. This support enabled us to work
with female artists including  BISHI and THE BROKEN HEARTS DJS, who created innovative and unique compositions using electronic music to accompany classic silent films that celebrate women in cinema. The performances took place at the BFI Southbank as part of the 2009 Birds Eye View Film Festival."

WHO CAN APPLY?
UK-based acts (individuals or groups) creating their own music, with plans for a live performance in 2010. Applications will also be accepted from promoters/producers who are planning events that will showcase the music of a particular act. Support is offered towards the costs of staging your planned event. Typical event costs may include musicians’ fees, venue/equipment hire and promotion & marketing.
